Toyozu

At work, me and my team buddies customarily go to places for a break. Samal beaches are popular destinations. But this time, we tried something different, a bit farther from Davao. All was set and we're off to Toyozu Hot Spring Resort in Nabunturan, Compostella Valley.

About 3-4 hours from Davao City, Toyozu is a favorite spot not only among locals but also for foreigners. It offers Japanese-inspired pools, sauna tunnels, picnic huts and overnight cottages. So if you're planning to spend your night at the resort, big rooms are available at reasonable prices. Ours was, I guess, Php1500 only and we are like 12. It's also advisable to bring your own food. Most visitors do so. Although there are a number of stores outside but they hardly sell meat or fish. And so before heading to the resort, we went to the public market to save ourselves.

It took us another 30 minutes to travel. The road was rough and winding. It was almost lunchtime when we arrived. The first thing we did was, of course, to explore the area.

It was past 12 and lunch was not yet ready. While others were busy preparing, Vem and I thought of exploring the other side of the river. We heard that there is a little volcano named Mt. Angelo which is claimed to be the smallest in the country. But I guess that was not confirmed, Taal would be angry.

The river was so striking. The rocks were yellow and orange due to the presence of sulfur. I stood right in the middle and it was really smokin' hot.

Pantawid-gutom.

Sadly, some locals use the place for slaughter. Blood stains, pig hairs and chicken feathers can be seen around.

Anyway, after some time, we went back to our cottage and lunch was ready. It was a sumptuous meal and we were so full. It's time to hit the Jacuzzi pools!

Then we tried their sauna tunnel. The temperature inside was really high that you can even cook an egg, but it's forbidden. I didn't stay there for long. I couldn't bear the heat, haha.

The next day, the staff cleaned the largest pool and replaced the water. It was so enticing that we can't help ourselves to have a plunge before we leave. We enjoyed a lot that we need to extend more hours.

So, if you are looking for some relaxing experience, then treat yourself at Toyozu Hot Spring Resort!
